Denver Pastor and Wife Indicted in $3.4M Cryptocurrency Scam Targeting Churches
A Denver grand jury has indicted pastor Eli Regalado and his wife Kaitlyn on 40 counts of theft, fraud, and deceit for allegedly orchestrating a multi-million-dollar cryptocurrency scheme. The couple reportedly solicited $3.4 million from investors—primarily Christian congregations—to purchase their worthless INDXcoin through the Kingdom Wealth Exchange.
The Regalados promised outsized returns while spending $1.3 million of investor funds on personal expenses, including home renovations. INDXcoin's whitepaper falsely claimed the token tracked the top 100 cryptocurrencies to "mitigate risk." Over 300 victims lost their investments in what prosecutors describe as a deliberate deception.
